Welcome to The Living Word

This is a podcast site, home of free MP3 audio shows that you can listen to now on your computer by clicking on the MP3 icons below. Or, using podcasting client software such as Apple's iTunes, you can subscribe to our shows and have them downloaded automatically to your computer and optionally to your portable MP3 player whenever new shows become available.

Start by exploring the shows from The Living Word on this page or explore other shows using the links on the left. When you find a show you want to subscribe to you have two choices. If you're using iTunes, simply click on the iTunes 1Click button on the upper left of the page to take you to the appropriate subscription page in iTunes and then click on the Subscribe button. If you're using another podcasting client, right-click (Control-click on the Mac with a one-button mouse) on the RSS Podcast button in the upper left and select "Copy Link" from the popup menu. Add a new podcast subscription in your client software and paste the link into the RSS field.

The Living Word #134: Ephesians 4:29 We've all experienced the power of words to lift us up and also their power to chop us down. We've listened to conversations that have drawn us closer to God and conversations that have done everything but. Yet we're often quick to speak without thinking first about the effect of what we're saying. Today's verse, Ephesians 4:29 from the NIV, encourages us to choose our words wisely. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. If only we could all keep this verse running through our minds whenever we are about to say something the world would be a much better place! Think before you speak today! Even though these are choices we know are good for us in the long run, the tempation is strong to give in to peer pressure and make a bad choice for the sake of short term gain. Today's verse, 1 Thessalonians 2:4 from the NLT, helps provide an incentive to stay strong and keep our focus where it needs to be: For we speak as messengers who have been approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He is the one who examines the motives of our hearts. This is an especially important verse to keep in mind when we're faced with the option to make a bad choice and stay popular or make a good one and stay Holy. Make good choices today!
